Roz Cran is based in St. Leonards on Sea and is the first artist-in-residence at underground. She works across performance, print, photography, video and books. Interests include our relationship with the natural world, time to be still, magic and the everyday.
Her residency consisted of ten studio days over a couple of months to find a rhythm. Daily exercises as a discipline and as a structure to build on. Time to experiment.
A record of roz’s 10 days can be found at http://www.a-n.co.uk/artists_talking/projects/single/1215676
Sharon and Sarah stay at the house of the lovely Claudine whilst in Oudenaarde this time and we are also shown great hospitality by Willy from the Twinning Association. We spent most of the time in the fire station, measuring, experimenting and trying things out. I aim to create a twining version of ‘an experiment in town planning’ whilst Sarah works on a performance piece in the cafe area complete with sound track.
After 3 days of exploring, working, taking photos and being shown the attractions we make a quick trip to Ghenst where we are invited almost immediately, into a preiew at a newly opened gallery. We then head back to UK and whilst on the ferry are regaled from all corners with replays of Royal Wedding which we had hoped to miss completely.
